What do you call a city that's home to nearly 20,000 trade shows and conferences in a year? Some might dub it the "Convention Capital."
It's an apt name for Las Vegas, Nevada, where close to 5 million people gather annually for various events and conventions. Some get-togethers can draw in tens of thousands of people alone. And, according to the Las Vegas Sun, that's because the city's 100,000+ hotel rooms can easily house large numbers of visitors.
But Sin City's trade shows can also be small, quirky and even bizarre.

Let's take a look at a few stand-out trade shows headed to Vegas soon:
- Las Vegas International Accordion Convention: Sept. 24 - 27
- UFO Think Tank on Science, UFOs and the Search for Extraterrestrial Life: Oct. 4 - 8
- Catalina Cat Show: Dec. 29 - 30
- 2013 Potato Expo: Jan. 8 - 11
Yes, they seem unusual. But when you're the "Convention Capital," you're bound to host at least a few strange ones. Hey, at least attendees can look forward to some unique promotional products!
