Start The New Year Famous

We make our New Years Resolutions in the hopes to better ourselves. Some want to become more healthy, others want to donate time/money to causes they strongly believe in. For others, it is a chance to become something you want to be.

For those who want to strive to take their talents to the next level, you may want to start getting your portfolios together after New Year's Day. The Jacob Javits Center will be the home of FAME. FAME is a world-reknowned junior/young contemporary show with hundreds of retailers on site showcasing the new and innovative designs for the summer and spring. The exhibitor list is still open although you may want to carry your sketches and other designs in a fancy custom leather portfolio. Keep business cards on you and you could start connecting with the biggest names in the business in no time.

FAME provides shuttle service to various locations throughout Manhattan - including Penn Station, The piers on the West Side, the W Hotel in Times Square and the Candlewood Suites in Times Square South. The shuttle continues to run to those locations even after the show ends each night. The trade show also features amenities such as lunch, breakfast, cappuccino/coffee/tea, smoothies and complimentary totes. (while supplies last)

FAME takes place on January 6 and continues until January 8 from 9:00am-6:00pm. (4:00pm on January 8) For more information on attending or getting your company in, visit the Fame Winter 2013 website.

Agenda: NYC and CA

October 18, 2012 16:43 by Nick

Many of the tradeshows discussed involve fashion in some sense. But many fashion shows showcase clothes that can be extremely costly, are not suitable for everyday use and tend to be aimed at older audiences.

Here comes Agenda: NYC and Agenda: CA to the rescue. These trade shows brings out over 100 different brands that are intended for younger people. These brands include Ashbury, Levi's, Vans, Skullcandy, Obey, DC Shoes and many others. The hope is to bring these independently-founded brands more exposure to an audience that is passionate about these and other brands.

If you are interested in seeing the newest stylings in promotional apparel, be sure to register on the Agenda website. Agenda: CA is January 4 & January 5 at the Long Beach Convention Center while Agenda: NYC takes place later in the month (January 23 & January 24) at 82 Mercer Street.

FFANY

It has been the subject of a very well-known Elvis song, a common topic on tabloid magazines everywhere and even the subject of a viral video. (which as of now has over 48 million views)

It's all about shoes. They have become more than an everyday necessity. They now have the status of a commodity - the more shoes you own (and the brands those shoes bear) the better a wardrobe, fashion sense, economic well-being (etc.) that you have. The footwear industry is a $48 billion/year industry and it looks like it'll only get stronger from there.

So where do shoe fans and designers go to find inspirations and ideas? The Fashion Footwear Association of New York tradeshow.

Located this year at the famous Hilton New York, this show promises to be bigger than any other show. With its exhibitor space selling out quickly, a Men's Collection section and a QVC Gala with 120,000 pairs of shoes on sale (from over 90 brands!) you'll see what all the hype is about just by stepping through the door.

Best of all, admission to this tradeshow is free. (by pre-registering) So the only thing your wallet will be doing is holding your "shoe-money".

Learn more by visiting the FFANY website. And be sure to bring a promotional tote bag.

WPIX Expo

Typically, most tradeshows tend to take up more than one day. While there are benefits of having tradeshows and expos that last for more than one day, a downside is that those who attend only one day can miss out on so much.

Luckily, there is a healthcare expo that is only one day - so you have the opportunity to take part in everything.

The PIX11 Health Expo, hosted by WPIX, is taking place on Saturday, October 27 2012 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, NY. This health expo is designed to bring the health issues to those who are striving to better themselves - without having to focus on more than one day or taking off of work. The health expo will feature health and wellness experts addressing your questions and concerns, free health screenings and even free health classes. Best of all, great health-minded celebrities like Dr. Steve and Billy Blanks will be on-hand for meet & greets and autograph signings. Be sure to bring your custom imprinted paper products!

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information, visit the WPIX Expo Website

New York, Meet Your New Convention Center

January 10, 2012 16:42 by brandon

The majority of New York-based trade shows are currently held at Manhattan's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  The assembly hall ranks only 12th in the nation in size, leaving much to be desired; it's beat out by tradeshow centers in both California and Georgia.  But New York trade shows may soon receive a face lift; last week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled plans to develop a massive new convention center in Queens, NY.

According to the New York Post, Cuomo, who recently called the Javits Center "obsolete," asserts that the area needs a larger convention center in order to compete.  Mayor Bloomberg has also voiced his support for the privately-funded project:  "All of us have agreed that we need a bigger convention center. Could you imagine what we could do if we had a world-class, appropriate-sized convention center?" he said.

The new hall would be built in Queens between New York City's biggest airports.  Meanwhile, the Javits Center, which the San Francisco Chronicle called "too small ... and poorly suited for the kind of bold, glitzy convention center that would be appropriate for Manhattan," would be converted into office space, housing, hotel rooms, and more.

Not only does the initiative have the potential to create thousands of jobs, but it may also draw in more visitors to the New York region.  What's most exciting about the proposed tradeshow center is its sheer size. "Let's build the largest convention center in the nation, period," Cuomo said.  Imagine the amount of trade show giveaways you could collect at a show in the country's biggest convention center!

What do you think -- would a sparkling new convention hall have you visiting New York more often?
