Promotional Toys at the Clown Convention

Conventions are similar to trade shows in that they bring together professionals within the same industry. However at a trade show you'd see vendors competing for a specific attendee’s allegiance with trade show giveaways and sales pitches. At a convention, attendees all share a common interest and this is their chance to share it with their comrades. It provides for a less competitive and friendlier event that showcases the shared love for a given field of interest.

For instance, Trekkies, Star Trek loyalists, have become an extreme force in the convention world. Each month conventions take place where Trekkies dress in costume and join with their fellow earthlings and Klingons alike. But this week in Mexico City, there will be no trekkies. Instead, for the 14th Annual Clown Convention, painted faces and oversized shoes from all over Mexico, Central America and the United States will join together for one massively fun event. (Who knows, it's possible that the 500+ clowns will arriving in the same clown car.)

During the festive four day convention of juggling, face painting and miming these clowns will participate in workshops, competitions and performances. With clowns from all over America attending, the best in clown make-up, magic tricks and costumes are on display. This allows a great exchange of materials which is only possible with trade show giveaways. By exchanging business cards and even giving away fun promotional toys, clowns can keep in touch with one-another and clown material suppliers.

I'd say the top trade show giveaways in the clown world would have to be promotional balloons and custom toys. Clowns are of course just children at heart and it goes to show, that no matter what age or profession, trade shows and conventions are essential to the success of each individual.
