Let's face it: Growing up, some played with dolls while others amused themselves with toy cars. And those of us who loved cars when we were little never really grew out of it. That's why hundreds of car fanatics lined up outside the 19th Taipei International Auto Show's exhibition hall hours before its scheduled opening time last week -- everyone wanted to be among the first to get a glimpse at cutting-edge designs from more than 30 auto brands.

The Taipei Times reports that the trade show features "concept cars, including electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and hybrid vehicles ... along with sports cars, sport utility vehicles and multi-purpose vehicles." The fair, which is hailed as Taiwan's biggest-ever auto show, is even more exciting due to appearances by pop singer Amber An and professional model Akemi.

And according to Focus Taiwan, the celebrity cameos made a difference; this year's show "attracted over 36,000 people on opening day, a 30-percent increase from the 2009 record." Due to the impressive turn out, auto brands expect to break sales records, as well.

The trade show, which is taking place at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, will run through January 1, 2012.
