Caffeine junkies across America, rejoice! Coffee Fest -- a trade show dedicated to specialty coffees and teas -- is coming to your neighborhood soon.

Since 1992, Coffee Fest has been giving coffee and tea retailers a first-hand look at the world's best coffees, teas and related products. Each year, the trade show floor is filled with everything you'd expect to see in your favorite local spot, including logo coffees from brands like Ghirardelli and Caffe D'Amore.

Latte Art

Perhaps more importantly (for baristas, at least), are the classes and workshops open to attendees. The courses cover everything from managing a retail coffee shop to latte art training. (That's right -- they'll actually teach you how to create deigns out of steamed milk!)

Sandy and NYC's Javits Center: The Shows Will Go On

November 6, 2012 16:13 by brandon

Although Hurricane Sandy ripped through the Northeast last week, the Javits Center wants people to know that it is up and running and the shows will go on.

According to the venue's website, "Events running this week (AD Tech Expo and Customer Engagement Technology World) will all move in as scheduled and will open as published." Other future events, including Boutique Design NY and The International Hotel, Motel & Restaurant Show will also run as expected.

However, getting into Manhattan may still prove difficult. While three of the four 11th Ave. west side lanes are open, experts say that the lane closest to the Javits Center will be closed for at least another month. This will not only cause traffic for those attending upcoming trade shows, but it may also lead to headaches for exhibitors who need to unload their trade show items: "Due to lane closures, hand carry and taxi drop off will not be permitted on 11th Avenue between 35th Street and 37th Street."

If you're due to exhibit at New York City's Javits Center within the next month, pay attention to hand-carry procedures and time limits as they will be strictly enforced.

Other than these minor traffic issues, it appears that all upcoming shows will go on at the Javits Center post-Hurricane Sandy!

NYC Hosts American International Toy Fair

February 16, 2012 15:42 by brandon

The 2011 holiday season was a mere two months ago, and yet some are already preparing for next Christmas.

This week, Manhattan's Javits Center played host to over 15,000 buyers and more than 1,000 media reps who hoped to catch a glimpse of the 100,000 new toys, games, and other entertainment products on display.  The "largest toy tradeshow in the Western Hemisphere" wowed attendees with innovative new toys and hot trends.

According to Newsday, this year, toy manufacturers at the American International Toy Fair went app crazy:  "More companies are incorporating apps to help enhance the board game experience."  Additionally, Internet sensations, like Angry Orange, are entering the toy market with promotional stuffed animals and key chains.

Unfortunately, if you attended the show and saw an item you loved, you'll have to wait.  For the most part, the exhibited toys will not be available in stores until later this year.
